America's Region Skills Competition

From a personal growth perspective, the Skills Competition serves to raise employee morale while increasing excitement, retention and awareness of career path options. The event also provides networking and skill-sharing opportunities. The Competition creates a channel to recognize, energize and elevate future generations through the company ranks. This is just one great example of Daikin's People Centered Management philosophy, where we take care of our employees, who in turn take care of our customers.

Daikin goes above and beyond in its actions, with its intent on growing and developing employees. We hold a strong commitment to training and retention of a skilled workforce that produces high quality products for its customers. Daikin heavily supports skill transfer in the Dojos and the competitions because increasing employee skill level across the globe is a strategic market advantage.
 

Each contestant has worked extremely hard to compete at the regional level. Trainers and managers challenged their best employees to qualify on a local level before coming here to compete in this regional event. You will see Daikin's best of the best in this competition.

Following the competition our champions will become part of Daikin's history-books and will join the ranks of all past Skills Competition winning alumni. In addition, each winner will be presented with an official Skills Completion medal which has been meticulously crafted, designed to represent the spirit of the competition and reflect the collaborative nature of the team at DTTP. We hope that you will display them proudly!
 

In 2025, our annual skills and knowledge competition will feature 11 categories: Brazing, Welding, Maintenance, Tool & Die, Leak Testing, Sit-down Forklift Operation, Stand-up Reach Truck Operation, Sheet Metal Die Set-up, Karakuri, Press Break, and Wiring. Participants will demonstrate techniques integral to their daily roles, showcasing their expertise in front of a panel of judges.

Each event is timed, and upon completion, judges will review the final work and record sheets. Winners will be selected based on their ability to efficiently complete tasks, focusing on safety, quality, and speed. This is a great opportunity for participants to highlight their skills and contribute to our culture of excellence at Daikin!

This week also provides a great opportunity for you to network with your peers, as there will be time after each day to socialize, as well as an opportunity to work together at the group team building event. Don't forget to exchange contact info!
 

When you return to your facility, we encourage you to inspire your fellow co-workers to compete at next year’s event by honing their skills and reaffirming their commitment to producing the best quality product possible. As an experienced participant in the competition, any coaching or mentoring advice you share with them could ultimately prove invaluable in their career progression.

And, since you have been spending an entire week with like-minded coworkers from various locations throughout the region, this is also a chance to form long-lasting networking bonds and support one another as you continue your careers here at Daikin. Perhaps we will even see some of you back at future competitions as judges!
